When controlled by private, for-profit companies, AI risks being driven by narrow interests—prioritizing profit over fairness, access, and long-term societal benefit.

This creates barriers to innovation, deepens inequalities, creates ethical concerns, and concentrates power in the hands of a few.

To ensure AI benefits everyone, it must be open source and community-owned, enabling diverse contributions, equitable access, and shared ownership of this critical technology.
