πIntroduction
Welcome to the Society AI documentation. This GitBook provides a comprehensive guide to understanding the platform, its goals, approach, and technical details.
"The sum of human knowing is beyond any one man; any thousand men.
With the destruction of our social fabric, science will be broken into million pieces.
Individuals will know much of the exceedingly tiny facets of which there is to know.
They will be helpless and useless by themselves.
The bits of lore, meaningless, will not be passed on.
They will be lost through the generations.
But, if we now prepare a giant summary of all knowledge, it will never be lost.
Coming generations will built on it, and will not have to rediscover it for themselves.
One millennium will do the work of thirty thousand."
β Isaac Asimov, Foundation [1951]

Overview
Society AI aims to counteract monopolistic control in AI through a decentralized, community-driven, and open platform that promotes equal participation and innovation.
By building an inclusive and transparent AI ecosystem, Society AI empowers the community to be the primary βshaperβ of AIβs future, ensuring that advancements and developments serve the public good.
This approach fosters innovation and equity, allowing the community to direct and govern AI technology towards beneficial societal outcomes. From this perspective, we surpass existing decentralized AI models that focus more on economic benefit distribution, rather than on the direction and the quality of AI itself.
If we want a more democratic world, history tells us our only choice is to develop an AI strategy that will help create it, and that the nations and technologists who have a lead have a responsibility to make that choice β now.
β Sam Altman, CEO OpenAI, interview in Washington Post [July 2024]
Ironically, centralized AI wouldn't be able to serve the above vision.
Society AI envisions a decentralized AI infrastructure where governance is not in the hands of a few. It is not an "either-or" option but the responsibility and result of the collective wisdom and participation of many.
By promoting decentralized and equitable AI development, Society AI ensures both that economic benefits and developmental directions are distributed across a broad community, all this being led by public will contained in decentralized governance.
Our core belief is that AI should be a public goodβtransparent, accessible, and driving societal progress without political bias. Our model ensures that AI remains apolitical, serving as a democratic alternative that truly benefits humanity.

π° Incentivization & Revenue Model
β΄οΈ Society AI's tokenized economic model encourages participation, shares platform revenue with ecosystem contributors and drives adoption and growth. Unlike centralized AI, where only corporations earn revenue, Society AI shares its revenue with its community of developers, users, projects, community nodes, and our DAO.
1. Paid APIs:
Society AI offers in-demand AI-as-a-Service (AIaaS) through dollar-pegged paid APIs.
Transactions for these services are settled in utility tokens, ensuring a continuous demand for the token within the ecosystem.
2. Token Emissions:
Society AI will emit utility tokens similar to minersβ rewards on Bitcoin.
These emissions aim to incentivize platform contribution by rewarding participants who build the platform and ecosystem.
Coupled with the income from paid APIs, the token emissions create a mechanism similar to subsidizing compute on our AI Hub, allowing us to lower the cost of usage compared to traditional Web2 alternatives.
3. Reward Pools:
Companies and projects can create and fund reward pools.
These pools incentivize the development and improvement of specialized AI models, encouraging ongoing innovation and contribution within the community.
4. Staking:
Ecosystem participants, including developers, node operators, and application users, are required to stake tokens.
This staking mechanism helps maintain the platformβs integrity, prevent fraud and ensures alignment within ecosystem participants.
This incentivization model is designed to create a dynamic, engaged community that drives the development and success of Society AI while ensuring equitable benefits for all participants.
β Why decentralized AI matters?
1. Breaking Monopolistic Control
Decentralization is essential to prevent monopolistic control over AI, which often stifles innovation and limits the benefits to a select few. Decentralized AI ensures that the development and advancements in AI are driven by a broader community, promoting diverse innovation and equitable access to technology.
2. Incentivizing Innovation
Decentralized networks naturally attract top developers and entrepreneurs by offering community governance and shared incentives. This leads to a dynamic growth environment where innovation is continuously fostered, and the benefits are more widely distributed.
3. Open-Source Innovation
Just as the early internet in 1989 revolutionized technology by prioritizing open standards and community governance, todayβs decentralized systems have the potential to similarly transform AI. By embedding community-driven principles, decentralized AI can become a foundational technology that is resilient, inclusive, and widely beneficial.
4. Resilience Against Centralized Failures
Decentralized AI systems are more resilient to failures compared to centralized systems. In a decentralized network, the failure of one node does not compromise the entire system. This robustness is crucial for the critical infrastructure AI will increasingly underpin.
5. Aligning Incentives with Public Good
In a decentralized AI ecosystem, the incentives of developers, users, and operators are aligned with the public good. This model ensures that advancements in AI technology serve the broader society, rather than just the interests of a few powerful entities.
6. Empowering Community Governance
Decentralized AI empowers communities to have a say in the governance and direction of AI development. This democratic approach fosters transparency, accountability, and inclusivity, ensuring that AI technologies evolve in ways that reflect the values and needs of the community.
β³ Why Now?
1. Technological Maturity
Since the launch of ChatGPT in 2022, AI has been advancing at an exponential speed, while the technological infrastructure for decentralized systems has matured enough to support complex AI applications. Blockchain technology, peer-to-peer networks, and decentralized finance (DeFi) now provide the necessary tools to build robust decentralized AI ecosystems.
2. Growing Concerns Over Centralization
With increasing awareness of the risks posed by centralized control over AI, there is a growing demand for alternative models. The public and developers are more conscious of the need for transparency, fairness, and accountability in AI development.
3. Economic Incentives
The economic model of decentralization, which includes tokenization and community-driven rewards, provides powerful incentives for participation and innovation. This model can accelerate the growth and adoption of decentralized AI, creating a self-sustaining ecosystem.
4. Regulatory Landscape
As governments and regulatory bodies grapple with the implications of AI, decentralized models offer a way to align with regulatory goals while maintaining innovation. Decentralized governance can adapt more flexibly to regulatory requirements, ensuring compliance without stifling progress.
By leveraging these principles, Society AI aims to build a decentralized AI ecosystem that not only counters monopolistic control but also harnesses the collective power of the community to drive AI forward for the public good.
