Origins with PUBLC š ļø Society AI's journey began with PUBLC, a community-driven search engine founded on inclusivity and shared benefits.
PUBLC was designed to be a search engine built by everyone, for everyone, financially rewarding all contributors.
Back in 2017, the vision was to create a platform where people could categorize content, teach AI to better organize the web, and ultimately benefit from this collective effort. This vision highlighted the importance of AI as a core element.
āļø For years, the AI component of PUBLC remained dormant until the advent of large language models (LLMs) and the emergence of ChatGPT in 2022.
This technological leap provided an opportunity to integrate LLMs into PUBLC, enhancing its search capabilities.
Recognizing the broader potential of this AI layer, the team was set to build an open-source AI layer allowing developers to build upon it and be rewarded for their contributions.
Evolution into Society AI š As the AI layer for PUBLC grew, it became clear that the models, datasets, and compute infrastructure being developed have value beyond PUBLC.
This realization led to the formation of Society AI, a standalone project aimed at creating a decentralized AI ecosystem. The goal was to support any AI application with community-driven models and decentralized compute power.
