Spaces
Create spaces within organizations to group related work areas.
Spaces are the second level of the workspace hierarchy. They live inside an Organization and group related Projects together.
Purpose
Spaces help you organize work by team, department, domain, or any other grouping that makes sense for your organization. For example:
- A company might have spaces for "Engineering", "Marketing", and "Customer Support".
- A research lab might have spaces for "NLP", "Computer Vision", and "Robotics".
- A freelancer might have spaces for different clients.
Creating a Space
To create a space:
- Navigate to your organization's workspace.
- Select the option to create a new space.
- Provide a name and optional description for the space.
The space is created within your current organization and is immediately available for adding projects.
Space Properties
| Property | Description |
|---|---|
| Name | The display name of the space (required). |
| Description | An optional description of the space's purpose. |
| Organization | The parent organization the space belongs to. |
What Belongs in a Space
A space contains:
- Projects -- focused work areas where conversations and knowledge bases live.
- Knowledge base -- documents uploaded at the space level are available to all projects within that space.
Knowledge Base Scoping
When you attach a knowledge base at the space level, all projects within that space inherit access to those documents. This is useful for shared reference material that applies across multiple projects. See Knowledge Base for more details on scoping.
Next Steps
- Create Projects within your space to start focused work.
- Upload shared documents to the space's Knowledge Base.
